Leonardo Vandal (b. 1988) was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and lives and works in Brescia, Italy. Vandal is a multidisciplinary artist working across diverse mediums including painting, sculpture, installation, and writing. Nostalgia and melancholy permeate his work. The artist transforms the personal trauma in his early life into a highly personal visual and poetic language. Vandal is deeply influenced by the poet John Keats and his concept of negative capability and is drawn to various, often unusual mediums for their symbolic potency.
Vandal’s work has been exhibited internationally, with solo shows at Palazzo Galli Tassi (Firenze, IT), Sage Culture Gallery (Los Angeles, USA), Etage Projects (Copenhagen, DK). Group shows include those at Palazzo Magnani curated by Marina Dacci (Reggio-Emilia, IT), Mana Contemporary (New York, USA), and more.
